University Partnerships
Every year, many students from Haywood go on to study at university after they have been to college.
Places at universities, particularly top universities are very competitive and good grades at GCSE, particularly 7 to 9 grades, coupled with good A-Level results are key to getting there.
As well as going to local universities such as Keele University and Staffordshire University, some of our ex-students choose to go away to study at universities such as Durham and even Oxford. They have gone on to pursue a wide variety of different subjects ranging from Veterinary Science, Medicine, Law, Archaeology, Engineering, Economics and Business Management. For many top professions such as becoming a lawyer, a doctor or a teacher, you will need a degree.
At Haywood, we try to equip our students with a good understanding of what university is like. We have very strong partnerships with Keele and Staffordshire Universities and run a whole host of courses in all kinds of subjects to give you a glimpse of how exciting learning at a university can be.
We also offer residential visits to local universities in Years 10 and 11 so you get the chance to stay overnight and be a real university student! Some students get a chance to go further afield and experience visits to Durham, Oxford and Cambridge.
If you have a particular interest in visiting a university, or if you or your parents have any queries about this please pass this on to your form tutor or Head of House.
