Accelerated Reader

Students in years 7 to 10 participate in Accelerated Reader during tutorial.

28,000 books are assessed within Accelerated Reader. The programme incorporates a reading test every term, which gives students a reading age and a range of books that they can read from. Once students have read a book, they then complete a short comprehension quiz to add to their reading ‘word count’. A prize for the most improved word count is awarded every term. Our average word count for a term across school is an amazing 32 million words!

From reading test and book quiz results, we are able to suggest a variety of strategies that students can use to improve their reading age.

Parents can log in to Accelerated Reader from home, to see what students are reading and how they are progressing by going to the website directly.
