On Thursday June 8th along with the rest of the UK, the students from Haywood Academy took part in their own General Election. Having learnt about what the political parties campaigning in the area were campaigning for in a previous PSHE day and a tutorial session they were well informed to make a decision. The Labour candidate for the area Ruth Smeeth was returned by the students with a 65% share of the votes. Hopefully it was the free university fees that enticed them to vote for the labour candidate, having aspirations themselves to go there.
