GCSE exam results – well done!!

Our excited Year 11 students returned to the academy on Thursday to collect their long awaited GCSE results.  Students were not disappointed as they opened those famous brown envelopes and subsequently enrolled at Haywood Sixth Form Academy.   Two media outlets joined in the excitement with students opening results live on Signal Radio and through a live Facebook feed via the Sentinel .

Overall the Academy saw another rise in results, with 58% of students gaining an A*-C in both English and Maths, and over 50% of students gaining a top A or A* grade.  Perhaps of more importance, is that overall students made significantly better progress across all of their subjects compared with similar students nationally – the equivalent to nearly 20% of a grade better in every subject for every student.  The fact that all students who attend Haywood Academy, regardless of their starting point, make significantly better progress than similar students attending other schools nationally is a fact that all staff, parents and students are very proud of!

Well done to all our Year 11 students – enjoy the rest of your well earned break!

If you are interested in joining our sixth form, or joining the main school (in whatever year) then please do not hesitate to contact the academy and arrange a visit (01782 853535).
