Haywood Academy is a trusted and well respected school that is consistently over-subscribed – a testament to our success!

We are a member of The Schools Co-operative Society, and as such are a community academy, governed by local people for the benefit of young people in the local community.

As a co-operative Academy we are guided by the values of social responsibility, equity, equality, solidarity, democracy, openness, honesty and caring for others. When you visit our Academy you will see these values shining through.

At Haywood you become part of a family, not just a school, in which everyone is valued as an individual and is also expected to make a worthwhile contribution to the family.

Our Academy motto is ‘Inspiring Creativity and Achievement’. We aim to raise aspirations, expectations and achievement for all our students in a happy, caring and successful learning environment.

Our mission is to develop highly qualified and skilled young adults who achieve to the best of their ability, who are active citizens and who are fully committed to supporting both their local and the global community.

The Learning Environment

Haywood Academy provides a calm and ordered learning environment. Our building is light and airy, having recently undergone a £9 million refurbishment to provide outstanding facilities, while the design of our classrooms gives a feeling of openness, security and inclusion.

Every student is fully included and challenged, with regular and consistent assessment which track their progress and determines movement between sets and groups.

Students with special educational needs benefit from a comprehensive range of intervention programmes and receive additional support from teaching and non-teaching staff.

Able and talented students are nurtured and challenged through a dedicated programme of extension and enrichment activities.
