Haywood Academy is a special place in the heart of its community and an Academy that offers all children the chance to thrive in a creative, happy, inspiring environment.
We are one of the highest performing secondary schools in the West Midlands and a national, top performing, non-selective secondary school. We have a simple mission – to help give your child the best start in life. The progress of our students across a rich and varied curriculum is well above national expectations.
Ofsted judged the Academy to be ‘Good’, under a far tougher inspection framework than schools have been judged against before. We have now improved further in every area and we are a school that constantly wants to give our students the best in education.
As a parent or guardian, you can be assured that your child will enter an ethos of order and care which enables all students to achieve their potential. The Academy has excellent teaching staff and prides itself that they, along with a large body of support staff, are focused on giving your child the best possible start in life.
Our Sixth Form, established in September 2015, and situated in the Old Town Hall, Burslem and the Burslem School of Art, following a £3.1 million refurbishment, is sponsored by our Business Class Partner, Steelite International it is also supported by 100’s of businesses through our groundbreaking and award winning ‘Work Based Learning programme’. It now provides our community with an 11-18 education offer fit for the 21st Century.
We also have a unique partnership with two elite universities, Cambridge and Oxford, along with our local partners, Keele and Staffordshire Universities, to help us deliver our ‘Excellence Academy’, which provides a traditional ‘Grammar School’ experience from Year 7, aimed at getting students ready for a top university place in the future.
Everyone who visits our school is impressed by our working atmosphere, the sense of enjoyment in learning and our strong focus on achievement. I am sure that you will feel the same and see Haywood Academy as a warm and caring place, ideal for your child.
