Our school is a happy, dynamic and caring learning centre that celebrates the diversity of its students and community.
Welcome to Haywood Academy
We are one of the highest performing schools in the West Midlands and a national top performing non-selective secondary school. We have a simple mission – to help give your child the best start in life.
I am very proud to say that in 2015 we are the only school in the country to win two national awards from the Department for Education – the regional pupil premium award and the regional character education award. This really does show that your child could go to no better school in the West Midlands to get an outstanding education.
In 2014 Ofsted judged the Academy to be ‘Good’ in every category, in a far tougher inspection framework than schools have been judged against before. We have now improved further in every area and our GCSE results are ‘Outstanding’. We are a school that constantly wants to give our students the best in education.
The Academy’s GCSE results are some of the best of any secondary school in the country, above the national average, with student progress classed as ‘outstanding’ in many areas, including English and Maths.
63% of our students achieved 5 A*-C (including English and Mathematics)
97% of our students achieved 5 A*-G
84% of our students achieved the expected levels of progress in English
70% of our students achieved A*-C in English
70% of our students achieved the expected levels of progress in Mathematics
72% of our students achieved A*-C in Mathematics
Our sixth form will open this year in a new purpose built building and in the refurbished old town hall in the centre of Burslem, sponsored by our Business Class Partners, Steelite International.
We also have a unique partnership with 4 of the top universities in England; Cambridge, Oxford, Keele and Staffordshire to help us deliver our ‘Excellence Academy’, which provides a traditional ‘Grammar School’ experience from Year 7, aimed at getting students ready for a top university place in the future.
We value the trust and respect that the local community have in our approach and seek to provide outstanding opportunities for all our students so that their aspirations have no limits.
